Nopony could remember a time when it had rained so hard. Whipping up baleful and unrelenting out of the Everfree Forest, came a hurricane the pegasi couldn't stop. Fluttershy had already sheparded the local wildlife to higher ground, and Applejack and Pinkie were helping organize an evacuation.

Big McIntosh came running to twilight, Rarity riding slumped over his back. Hurt when the storm hit.
"No good." She shouted. "We rode the length of it, and the gem binders are failing. It's only a matter of time."
"Get out of here, then!" Twilight yelled back. "I'll have to hold them on my own!"
"No! You'll be washed away!"
"They have to hold until everypony is out! GO!"
They ran.

Rainbow Dash swooped in. "You can't be serious."
"I am, and I need you to fly to Canterlot. Get the princess."
"WHAT? There's no way I-"
"LIVES ARE AT STAKE. YOU'RE THE FASTEST FLIER IN EQUESTRIA."
She took off begrudgingly, Sonic Rainboom deadened by the roar of the storm. Twilight turned and felt the levee begin to give beneath her. She focused every ounce of power in her body. Her eyes went white, her mind slipped to the void.
When the levee breaks, mama, you got to go.
She awoke to Luna above her.

"You held the levees until the city was clear. Si-Princess Celestia swooped in to save you."
Dash had made it. good.
"The town?"
Luna looked heartbroken. "Destroyed. Wiped by the flood. But you and your friends saved everyone. If it weren't for you, they—" She was in tears. "I'm so sorry. Everything you had is...gone. I just…"
She pulled away, and Twilight let sleep take her once more.
